Debra received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Texas Christian University in 1988.  She is also a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Sports Nutritionist.

Teaching Others

Debra has counseled people for more than 30 years on Health and Wellness.  This includes teaching people about exercise, nutrition, weight management, weight loss, muscle gain, stress management, fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue, hormones, supplements, increased energy, importance of sleep, colon cleansers, and detoxifiers.  Debra has worked with children, teenagers, adults, senior citizens, athletes, pregnant and post-partum women, people with auto-immune disorders, and various diseases.

Columnist/Writer

Debra teaches people by individual personal training sessions, exercise classes, lectures, and writing.  For 20 years she was a monthly columnist for Plainview Daily Herald, and many years for Lubbock Home and Family Living, Senior Link Magazine, and Abernathy Harvester newspaper.  She has written fitness articles for national magazines such as Oxygen, Body, Muscle and Fitness Hers, Powerhouse, Excel, and AIM Partners Magazines.

Health Problems

Debra started suffering from Fibromyalgia (a type of arthritis/auto-immune disorder), Lyme’s Disease, and Epstein Bar Virus when she was a teenager.  For a decade, she tried the traditional treatment of medications, but it was unsuccessful.  Sometimes the side effects of the medications were worse than the original symptoms itself.

Health Improved

Debra asked God to heal her body and over time, He showed her what to do to regain her health.  She made several lifestyle changes and healthy choices that she began to teach other people and their health improved.  She finally wrote down the information that she was teaching to be healthy in the 268-page book, Fibromyalgia and Fatigue:  A Recipe for Feeling Fit and Healthy.

Fitness Competitions

After Debra’s health improved in her late 20's,  she had a daughter and a son, and then she decided to get back into her pre-pregnancy shape. In her early 30’s she competed in fitness competitions and competed against 100 other women that were 10-15 years younger than her.  Debra was in the "top 5" in many competitions, but she won the Texas competition and placed 2nd at the World Championships (the top 100 girls from competitions in Texas, California, Florida, and Ohio).

TV Shows, BAYWATCH

Due to Debra’s success in fitness competitions, she was featured in many fitness magazines such as Oxygen, Body, Muscle and Fitness Hers, Powerhouse, Excel, and AIM Partners Magazines.  She also had several TV appearances on FOX News, Extra, Forever Young, Ambassadors for Christ, Dallas Dream Makers, three commercials for ASB Bank, the popular show BAYWATCH, and Christian CBN 700 Club.

Health and Wellness Consultant

After Debra’s success in fitness competitions, she went on to compete in taekwondo (martial arts), women’s basketball, and now competes in swimming in the Senior Games. Debra continues to be a Health and Wellness consultant, personal trainer, and teaches fitness classes for senior citizens.  Debra and her husband Gary have been married for 33 years, their two kids are married, and they have one grandson.
